| 01-Tao | A nice almost etheral track that builds up, breaks apart and then back up again in a new guise. The reverse piano was played live and gives the track its foundation. |
02-Materialism Doesn't Matter |
The main sample used in this track is from a recording of me and my friends singing an old Wurzel's classic. It was recorded on my phone on my birthday and I've used it as a ringtone ever since. |
03-Contemplation |
A track that is perfect for exactly that. This is one of those tracks that evolved over time, it was just a piano loop when my previous album, "Introspection" was released, but the overall structure and rhythm came much later. |
04-Porto Dreams |
I was inspired to create this tune in the build-up to the Euro 2004 football championship held in Portugal. I took a very short sample from a CD of Portuguese world music and cut it up relentlessly to create this summer sounding track. |
| 05-Untitled | This is a recently started "work in progress" with the basis comprised by a very funky arpegiated synthline. |
| 06-Awakening the Beast | I was working on the beat around the same time as hit upon this deep & growly bass sound that sounded like a nasty beast roaring. I added a simple string melody that seems to summon the beast from it's slumber. |
| 07-Dance of the Fireflies under the Stars | I worked on this track along a similar timescale to Contemplation and using similar techniques. A hypnotic beat combines with a saxy sample that I manipulate, break apart and rebuild to make the rolling melody. |
| 08-Summer Yearning | A pleasant track based around a couple of simple piano loops that appears to be yearning. |
| 09-Fractal Chaos | This track has a very complex beat with an almost random string section that I seem to tame into something quite special. |
| 10-Murphy's Law | AKA Sod's Law which roughly translates as shit happens. The vocal samples in this track were recorded at a time where my life followed precisely those principles. But like the Murphy's, I'm not bitter, especially since I made a track as a kind of souvenir of the experience. |
| 11-All Just Too Much | As some self therapy, I made this track in response to my life at the time which was "All Just Too Much". |
| 12-Untitled | This track is entirely synthetic even though the guitar sounds authentic. I created this while messing about with some knobs and buttons in Fruityloops |
| 13-Yin+Yang=0 | There is a theory that at the end of the life of our Universe, time will start going backwards to the singularity of the Big Bang. If this theory is true, this track will sound identical to the way you will hear it. |
